My old apartment

Last night !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! while I transition to a new career. That got me thinking about my old apartment, and I figured I’d share with you how I festooned it. Being a car nerd I decorated with cars, and since I had no one to tell me I couldn’t.

The e30 is a three page fold out ad from a magazine that I had framed.

The M5 is a pirelli ad from the 80s, also from a magazine.

Most of the badges came from the junkyard; the M5 and 534td badges came from ebay though.

Should be every E28 sold in the US.

This is going to be my appartment as well, except, less BMW/Merc stuff...:p..but equal amounts of car love to be shown. I already have an old caddy tv lamp and a couple of other car-related furniture thingys....

I’ve also got a lamp I made from an M5 camshaft and a steering wheel table made from E28 parts. There is also a clock from a W123 sitting on my desk.

Did you make all the car furniture (carniture..HA) yourself? Or special-ordered it? I am kinda looking for ready-made car-related furniture, or at least stores/websites that sell them. If you know any, Id love to hear about them...

How did you get a hole down the center of the camshaft for wires?

Most BMW cams are hollow. I know at least that both M50 and S62 cams are hollow.

Damn, that would make it easier! I’ve been wanting to do this with the old camshaft out of the vette, but SBC cams are solid :/

Yeah as soon as I found out they were hollow I was like, well I guess I know what I’m making a lamp out of.

I’m leaning towards getting it chrome plated and adding a pair of brackets to turn mine into a towel rack
